Our Mission...
To promote economic development through nonprofit capacity building, and provide access to community resources and wellness services for those in need.

The purpose of the Careers for a Cause program is to get Americans back to work within charitable organizations leading to financially sustained nonprofits and communities.
To further our purpose, we have created two projects: The Nonprofit Affiliate Project and The Community Jobs Project. We work with both nonprofits and the community at the same time.
Our goal is to prepare the nonprofit to receive funding for at least two jobs AND to prepare job seekers to apply for jobs within those charities.
Every quarter starting April 22, 2017 we will host Hiring Events where we match job seekers to their ideal job at any one of our Nonprofit Affiliate's locations.

The Nonprofit Affiliate Project
Nonprofit Affiliates will be led through a 10-step system to nonprofit management and fund development. This system will help nonprofits get properly set up to receive funding. The timing of this phase is directly related to the organization’s current management practices. It could take 1-3 months depending on how the nonprofit runs its operations. The 5-steps are outlined below:
Step 1 Recruitment & Agreement – We process your online application. If approved,
you will be emailed an agreement. For qualification visit: http://www.npsfdn.org/nonprofit-affiliates. We then create a personalized Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement between our two organizations to clearly define the working relationship.
Step 2 Complete the Snapshot – A 121 question assessment which measures your
organization’s operations
Step 3 Fact Finding – Nonprofit Affiliate to send all materials describing the agency
such as: history, mission & vision, purpose, logo, organization projected budget, fund development plan, evaluation plan, needs statement, federal exemption letter, current 990, board list, current supporters list, financial statements, program description of activities, population served/demographics, service area
Step 4 Fact Finding Analysis – Our staff will analyze your submitted items and if you
need help in any area, we will help you get prepared for funding
Step 5 Fund Development – we work together to figure out how we will help you raise
funds. We provide grant research and support in grant writing and reporting.
Step 6 Raise Funds – We offer fund raiser ideas (over 60) to help you have multiple
revenue streams, we provide a grant review report for every grant you submit to us for assistance, and anything else you may need to help you .
Step 7 Bi-Weekly Check-In – This will be a short online survey if you’re too busy. You
are also welcome to email or call in every two weeks to keep us posted of your progress. Our goal is to support you through your challenges as well as successes.
Step 8 Job Match Participation – Once you’ve raised all your funds, we will work with
you on all the HR tools you will need to hire. If you plan to hire multiple people and need assistance with HR we will refer you to our collaborative partner, Higher Ground International for those services. Our staff will help match you to the perfect candidate for your organization.
Step 9 Attend Hiring Events – Beginning April 22, 2017, we will hold quarterly hiring
events. The rest of 2017 events will be held in July, October and January 2018. At each event you have the opportunity to hire individuals. You will be given a booth and will need to have a decision maker attend to the booth. There will be refreshments available and an opportunity to network.
Step 10 Evaluation – NSF requests your participation in After Placement Measurement.
We require your organization and new staff person to complete our surveys quarterly the first year. Year 2 we ask semi-annually. Years 3-5 we will connect annually for evaluation purposes.

By signing the MOU, you agree to assign someone to participate with us in these steps. It is critical that you follow these steps in a timely manner to ensure program completion. Remember, finishing this program means you have raised funds, built your capacity, and hired at least two people to help you further your cause.
This process is scheduled to begin January 9, 2017.
